Carimate chair by Vico Magistretti

Montis Mantis, Gerard van den Berg

Pouf 01 by NLstudio

The J16 rocking armchair was designed by Hans Wegner in the 1950s. This one was manufactured by Danish producer FDB Mobler in black painted Beech and a paper-cord seat.

Hans J. Wegner, born in 1914 in Southern Denmark, was the son of a shoemaker. From 1928 to 1932, he was apprenticed to the cabinetmaker H.F. Stahlberg and at the age of fifteen, Wegner made his very first chair. Hans J. Wegner was one of the most important and influential designers in history. He is known for his driving force in the well known midcentury Danish modern movement that forever changed the way the world looks at furniture.

Wegner passed away in 2007 at the age of 92 leaving a remarkable legacy of design and craftsmanship for future generations to enjoy. Vintage Wegner chairs in particular, reach high prices at auctions and are in constant demand by vintage lovers and art collectors.
