Vico Magistretti designed the Carimate chair in 1959 as part of the furnishings for the golf club in Carimate, Lombardy. The chair, with a frame of beech wood, was produced for a long time and with different manufacturers.
The design of the Carimate chair is partly inspired on the Scandinavian tradition combined with the Italian traditional of a wood and rush/straw chair. The open frame structure gives the Carimate chair a strong expression. The boxy frame with curved armrests and distinct detail of the thickened joints, where the frame meets the seat, add a to the clear appeal of the chair.
This red Carimate chair is finished in RAL 9004, comes with a new rush seat and has a seating height of 45 cm.
